Access
From central
Milan, take Via XXII Marzo and Viale Corsica; from the ringroad,
take the Linate exit. The airport has good links to the northern
Italian road network: Autostrada 8 leads to north Milan and
Varese and Autostrada 4 leads to Milan and to Novara, west
of Milan. The P41 leads over the Alps to Switzerland via Como,
the Autostrada 1 leads southeast to Piacenza, and the Autostrada
7 leads south to Genoa. Most of these major routes are toll
roads.
Airport Overview
Linate
Airport is one of the three major airports of Milan, Italy,
along with Malpensa Airport and Orio al Serio Airport. Due
to its closer proximity to Milan it is mainly used for domestic
and short-haul international flights. Its name comes from
the small village where it is located in the town of Peschiera
Borromeo. Its real name is "Airport Enrico Forlanini",
after the Italian inventor and aeronautical pioneer born in
Milan. Linate airport buildings are located in the Segrate
Municipality, and the field is located for a large part in
the Peschiera Borromeo Municipality.
