Airport Overview
Hamburg Airport (IATA: HAM, ICAO: EDDH), also
known as Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel Airport is an international
airport serving Hamburg, Germany.
The airport is 8.5 km (5.3 mi) north of the
centre of the City of Hamburg in the Fuhlsbüttel quarter.
Hamburg airport has 17 jet-ways and 54 apron positions. There
are two terminal-buildings with the so-called Plaza-building
in the middle of them. The Plaza hosts the central security
check as well as shops, restaurants, lounges and other service-facilities.
In all buildings level 1 is the departure level, whilst level
0 is arrivals. Hamburg airport offers 14 baggage claims on
the arrival level.
In 2008, Hamburg airport served 12,840,000
passengers and 173,500 aircraft movements.

Terminals 1 and 4. The Airport Office, which is situated between
Terminals 3 and 4 Arrivals level, provides airport information;

Terminals
Hamburg
has two terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, connected by
the Airport Plaza and the baggage claim area that extends
through the lower levels of all three buildings. These three
buildings were designed by Gerkan, Marg, und Partner. Terminals
1 and 2 have a high, curved ceiling designed to emulate the
shape of a wing.

Terminal
1 was completed in 2005 and is highly similar to Terminal
2 in terms of design and size. It has numerous energy and
water saving features like rain water collection for use in
restrooms and a ThermoLabyrinth, which uses ground temperature
to help regulate the building's temperature and reduce loads
on the air conditioning systems.

The Airport
Plaza contains the security clearance and extensive shopping
areas. It houses the S-Bahn station and was completed in December
2008.

are located in all areas of both terminals follow signs for
details.
Disabled
facilities / Medical Facilities
Disabled
travellers should inform their airline and the airport information
desk of their needs before travelling. The airport is accessible
to wheelchairs and disabled toilets can be found throughout.
Disabled parking spaces are available in the car park. DRK
Mediservice offer a door-to-door transfer service; wheelchair
push and provision; and assistance for disabled travellers.
Business
facilities
The Airport
Office provides business services including fax; photocopying;
and typing. The Airport Conference Centre has seven conference
venues, which can accommodate up to 90 delegates, with audiovisual
and other equipment for hire. The Hanseatic Conference and
Banqueting Centre has 14 meeting rooms of different sizes,
and offer business services such as telephone; fax; photocopying;
and translation. Executive lounges are situated on level 2
of Terminal 4. There is also a VIP service available and reservations
must be made 24 hours in advance.
Baggage
There
is a porter service available and reservations can be made
in advance (e-mail: porter@secuserve-ham.de). The airport
has trolleys are available for a small deposit. There is also
a left-luggage facility in the Terminal 4 Arrivals area and
lost property is handled by the Airport Office.

opening hours in Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Level 0 of the
Airport Plaza are from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
For Level
1 of the Airport Plaza and the Pier the regular opening hours
are from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
